Tucked away in the heart of Mumbai, Sassoon Dock is a historically significant location with a modern artistic twist. Known for being one of the city’s oldest and busiest fishing docks, Sassoon Dock has always been a vibrant part of Mumbai’s maritime history. However, in recent years, it has transformed into an unlikely yet fascinating canvas for artists and creators, bringing a beautiful blend of Mumbai’s industrial past and its evolving cultural landscape. Sanjay Gandhi National Park, a lush green expanse situated in the heart of Mumbai, is a place where nature and history converge in the most serene and captivating manner. While the park itself is a popular spot for nature walks, wildlife sightings, and peaceful retreats, one of its most remarkable attractions is the Kanheri Caves. Nestled within this vast park, the Kanheri Caves offer a journey back in time to an era where ancient Buddhist monks carved their wisdom and spirituality into the very heart of the hills. My visit to this incredible historical site in 2023 was an experience I will never forget. The adventure to the Kanheri Caves begins as soon as you enter Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
