Just off the coast of Mumbai, nestled on the lush green Elephanta Island, lie the ancient Elephanta Caves—one of the most captivating historical and spiritual sites in India. Known for their awe-inspiring rock-cut sculptures, these caves are a testament to India’s rich cultural heritage and the artistic brilliance of a bygone era. Visiting Elephanta Caves had always been a dream of mine, and in 2023, I finally made my way to this UNESCO World Heritage site, eager to experience its mystique and history firsthand. The journey to Elephanta Island itself is part of the adventure. From the bustling Gateway of India, I boarded a ferry that took me across the shimmering waters of the Arabian Sea.
